Hello there,
We’re writing to let you know about upcoming changes and options affecting customers using older Fetch Mini Gen 3 (H626T) or Mighty Gen 3 (M616T) devices. You are receiving this message because you use a Gen 3 device which is over 5 years old and without any active Fetch subscriptions, and action is required to retain your Fetch Service.
Like most technology, your Fetch device doesn’t work in isolation. It needs to access the Fetch Service with an active account and internet connection to use key features such as the Fetch TV Guide and EPG data, Search, Recording, Free-to-air TV over Internet, included content, the Movie and TV Store, integrated apps, account services, and other essential features and functions developed and/or operated by Fetch TV.
As technology, content services, and security systems evolve, older devices become less able to perform and function as intended over time. Supporting older hardware makes it increasingly challenging to deliver the latest features and high-quality entertainment experience cost-effectively to all customers. As a result, like most technology platforms, support for older Fetch access devices running on the platform is reduced gradually.
Your Fetch Gen 3 is now the oldest generation of access device still operating. It runs on old-generation technology and it is approaching the end of its support lifecycle. We appreciate that you value your Gen 3 device, so we are offering you some options, including a way to continue using your Gen 3 device for an extended period “as-is” with ongoing support — instead of imposing an immediate end-of-life phase-out, which is not a preferred path for our customers.
You’ll need to choose and act on one of the options below on or before 31 October 2026 to avoid potential disruption to your Fetch service.
To continue using your current Fetch Gen 3 device as-is into the future, we are asking legacy Gen 3 customers to pay a one-time, non-recurring Extended Service Levy ($29.99) per household only. This will enable you to continue using your Gen 3 device(s) with the Fetch Service for a minimum of one more year (i.e. at least to 31 October 2027) without upgrading to a new model right now or committing to any monthly subscription.
Fetch will endeavour to continue to support Gen 3 products beyond one year, where it remains feasible to do so while delivering a satisfactory Fetch experience for all customers.
In any event you will not be charged for the Extended Service Levy beyond this one-time charge. This levy will help Fetch to continue to deliver Fetch’s content services and features to you via your Gen 3 device, and provide you with ongoing customer support. It is not a subscription.
Important information about loss of support for some third-party apps
Over the next 3 months, some third-party apps will be removed from your Gen 3 device. The providers of these apps have advised Fetch that the apps will cease to be compatible with a Gen 3 device.
-
The MINI Gen 3 will no longer support Netflix, Paramount+, SBS On Demand and Hayu.
- The MIGHTY Gen 3 will no longer support Paramount+.
This option of extending the useful life of your Gen 3 device via the Extended Service Levy will not stop your Gen 3 device from losing access to the 3rd party streaming apps listed under Option A. It will only assure continued access to Fetch content, features & services. Only upgrading your device to a Mini Gen 5, Mighty Gen 4 or Mighty Gen 4 Pro will ensure you can still use all your streaming apps.
For more information on the Extended Service Levy, click here.
Your upgrade options:
1. Replace your Gen 3 Mini with a Fetch Mini Gen 5 (HY4424) or Fetch Mighty Gen 4 (M681T) with improved features over your Gen 3. All new Fetch devices are bundled with a Fetch Access subscription ($4.99/month). The Fetch Access subscription includes 50+ movies on-demand every month via Movie Box, 30+ streamed TV channels, and 30+ games.
2. Purchase the Fetch Mini Gen 5 or Fetch Mighty Gen 4 as an additional access device in your home. This enables you to continue using your old Gen 3 device(s) on other TVs with both an active Multiroom subscription ($4.49/month) and Fetch Access subscription ($4.99/month).
3. Pre-order the Fetch Mighty Gen 4 Pro, our proven Mighty Gen 4 now featuring 2TB of storage and the latest Fetch Voice Remote Pro, to replace your existing Gen 3 device or add it to your Multiroom setup, with an active Fetch Access subscription.

If you take no action
If you do not choose any of the other options above, and do not cancel your Fetch Service on or before 31 October 2026 but continue to use the Fetch Service with your Gen 3 device(s), the $29.99 Extended Service Levy will be charged to your account on 1 November 2026.
Important: You will not need to pay the Extended Service Levy if you are subscribed to certain content OR if you are paying a multiroom fee:
-
Customers with an active subscription to Fetch Access, Movie Box, Fetch Multiroom or any Content Pack as of 31 October 2026 will not pay the Extended Service Levy.
-
Subscriptions to third party apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+ or Hayu are not eligible subscriptions for exemption, even if they are billed to you by Fetch.
Action required: If you choose to continue using your Gen 3 device(s), please log into your account and make sure your payment details are up-to-date before 31 October 2026.
This will help ensure we can process any applicable Extended Service Levy or Fetch subscription charges you have chosen.
If we’re unable to process your payment after four attempts, your Fetch account will be suspended and you will not be able to use the Fetch service on any device linked to your account. If you use a Mighty Gen 3, you will lose access to making or viewing recordings while your account is suspended.

The Extended Service Levy is a one-time, non-recurring fee charged to each household (not per device) that enables customers to continue using their older Fetch Mini Gen 3 and Mighty Gen 3 device(s) working with the Fetch Service and receive ongoing customer support for a minimum of one more year, with the intention to extend this longer where the experience for all customers, both legacy and current, can be delivered equitably and efficiently.
This levy helps to keep this 10-year-old generation of Gen 3 access devices operating with Fetch features and content, including TV Guide, Search, Recording, Free-to-air TV over Internet, content delivery, account services, included TV channels and other essential functionality developed and/or operated by Fetch TV.
The $29.99 Extended Service Levy is not a recurring charge or subscription. It helps us to continue to support and maintain the Gen 3 devices for a longer period of time, instead of imposing an immediate end-of-life. This ensures that you can continue using your current older device, including any existing recordings, content purchases and rentals, for at least until 31 October 2027.
Fetch will endeavour to continue supporting Gen 3 devices beyond one year where appropriate support for Gen 3 customers can be delivered without impacting the Fetch experience for other customers using newer products.
This applies to Fetch Mini Gen 3 and Mighty Gen 3 devices that were activated more than 5 years ago.
When you originally purchased your Fetch Mini Gen 3 or Mighty Gen 3 (between 5 years and 10 years ago), the price covered the hardware device itself with the technology of the day in its firmware, along with the Fetch services and apps available at that time. Your Gen 3 is now the oldest access device in service and runs on technology that is less able to perform and function as intended, compared to our newer available devices. As software, security, and streaming technology continues to advance globally, some apps or features will no longer be compatible and we need to gradually phase out older devices to ensure we maintain the best Fetch experience, consistent for all customers where possible and in the most efficient way.
The Extended Support Levy allows us to continue providing access to the Fetch Service on these older generation devices for a limited time, rather than retiring them immediately.
Your Fetch device doesn’t work in isolation. It needs to access the Fetch Service, including the TV Guide, Search, Recording, Free-to-air TV over Internet, all the included content, purchases & rentals, integrated apps, account services, and other essential features & functions developed and/or operated by Fetch TV. Providing the Fetch Service involves significant ongoing operational costs.
Old devices on the service create further challenges for maintaining the best experience for all customers. Customers who subscribe to Fetch Access, Movie Box, Fetch Multiroom, or any of our Content Packs contribute to the ongoing costs of delivering, updating and supporting our uniquely Australian entertainment platform. Because of this, we will waive the Extended Service Levy entirely for as long as you maintain an active, eligible subscription.
Active, eligible subscriptions that exempt you from the Extended Support Levy are:
- Fetch Access
- Fetch Multiroom
- Movie Box
- Any Fetch Content Pack (such as Ultimate, Kids, Variety, Vibe, Knowledge, Italian or Horse & Country)
Subscriptions to third-party apps billed through Fetch (like Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, or Hayu) do not qualify for the exemption.
The Extended Service Levy is a one-time $29.99 fee. It is not a recurring charge or subscription and enables you to continue using your Fetch Gen 3 device with the Fetch Service for a minimum of 12 months, until at least 31 October 2027.
If you do not take action on or before 31 October 2026, the levy will be applied and your Fetch service will continue “as-is” on your Gen 3 device with no further action required. To avoid the levy, please choose one of the following before the deadline:
- Upgrade your device with loyalty discount offers
- Subscribe to an eligible subscription
- Cancel your Fetch service at no cost
Fetch will endeavour to continue supporting Gen 3 devices beyond one year where appropriate support for Gen 3 customers can be delivered without impacting the Fetch experience for other customers using newer products.
The Extended Service Levy will be automatically charged to your Fetch account from 1 November 2026 if you have not cancelled your account by 31 October 2026, and you are still using a Gen 3 device without an active, eligible subscription on that date.
The levy only applies to Fetch Mini Gen 3 or Fetch Mighty Gen 3 devices (first activated between 5 years and 10 years ago) that are not being used with an active, eligible subscription.
If you currently obtain your Fetch Service from an internet service provider such as Optus or Aussie Broadband, you will not be charged the levy, even if you use a Fetch Mini Gen 3 or a Fetch Mighty Gen 3.
You will receive a Service Message from Fetch if you need to take action.
You will only be liable to be charged the levy if you are using a Fetch Mini or Mighty Gen 3 device that:
- Was first activated between 5-10 years ago
- Does not, as of 31 October 2026, have an active, eligible subscription. For more information, see FAQ on What is an active, eligible subscription?
Impacted customers will receive direct email communication from Fetch at least 30 days before the Extended Service Levy is applied to their account. If you're unsure whether the levy applies to you, please contact Fetch Customer Care directly at fetchtv.com.au/contact-us. Please do not post queries on unofficial social media pages as these are not Fetch official support channels and we cannot identify or help you via these forums.
The Extended Service Levy covers the continued compatibility of your Gen 3 device with the core Fetch Service for a period of 12 months. It allows continued access to your TV Guide, search, recordings, content entitlements and delivery, account management, and Gen 3 device access to the Fetch Platform. It does not ensure continued access to third-party streaming apps or their content as these are not Fetch apps and compatibility of these apps is not determined by Fetch.
Third-party apps billed through Fetch (like Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, or Hayu) are owned, developed, maintained and supported by their respective providers. Their availability, features, updates and compatibility with Gen 3 devices will change over time and cannot be guaranteed by Fetch.
Some app providers have recently informed us that their apps will no longer be compatible with Gen 3 devices progressively over the next 12 months as the device firmware is too old:
- Gen 3 Mini: Netflix, Paramount+, SBS On Demand, and Hayu.
- Gen 3 Mighty: Paramount+.
We will be providing further notice as to the date on which those Apps will be removed Gen 3 devices.
If these apps are an important part of your daily viewing, we strongly recommend upgrading to a Fetch Mini Gen 5, Mighty Gen 4 or Mighty Gen 4 Pro. You will also enjoy new features with the new models.
You decide how you want to move forward. On or before 31 October 2026, you can:
A) Upgrade your device:
1. Replace your Gen 3 Mini with a Fetch Mini Gen 5 or Fetch Mighty Gen 4 with improved features over your Gen 3. All new Fetch devices are bundled with a Fetch Access subscription ($4.99/month). The Fetch Access subscription includes 50+ movies on-demand every month via Movie Box, 30+ streamed TV channels, and 30+ games. Learn more about upgrading your device here.
2. Purchase the Fetch Mini Gen 5 or Fetch Mighty Gen 4 as an additional access device in your home. This enables you to continue using your Gen 3 device(s) on other TVs with both an active Multiroom subscription ($4.49/month) and Fetch Access subscription ($4.99/month). Learn more about purchasing another device here.
3. Pre-order the Fetch Mighty Gen 4 Pro, featuring 2TB of storage and the latest Fetch Voice Remote Pro, to replace your existing Gen 3 device or add it to your Multiroom setup, with an active Fetch Access subscription.
B) Add an eligible Fetch subscription:
4. Subscribe to Movie Box ($3.99/month), enjoying 50+ specially-curated, ad-free movies on demand every month. Learn more about Movie Box here.
5. Subscribe to Fetch Access ($4.99/month) which includes Movie Box. Learn more about Fetch Access here.
6. Subscribe to any Content Pack (Ultimate, Knowledge, Variety, Vibe, Kids, Italian or Horse & Country) and enjoy 50+ premium channels. Learn more about Content Packs here.
7. Subscribe to Multiroom, which enables you to continue using your Gen 3 device(s) for other TVs in the home, if you already have or purchase a second device. Learn more here.
Subscriptions to third-party apps billed through Fetch (like Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, or Hayu) are not an eligible subscription for the purpose of avoiding the levy.
C) If you don’t wish to upgrade your device or take up an eligible subscription, you may remove the Gen 3 device from your account or cancel your service via our self-service portal on or before 31 October 2026.
Once you cancel your service, your Gen 3 device will lose all functionality and any recordings, and cannot be reactivated in the future by you or anyone else. Gen 3 devices should not be re-sold as they will not be re-activated by Fetch once cancelled. Please dispose of your Gen 3 device thoughtfully.
Yes, and we highly recommend it! By upgrading to a modern Fetch Mini Gen 5, Mighty Gen 4 or pre-ordering a Fetch Mighty Gen 4 Pro (for delivery January 2027) through the online Fetch Official Store, you will not only avoid the levy but you will experience better performance, new Fetch features, an updated home page and menus, and continued access to all your favourite apps.
All new devices (whether purchased directly through our online store or at electronics retailers) require a Fetch Access subscription. You will not be charged the Extended Service Levy if you purchase a new device with Fetch Access.
Fetch Access also includes Movie Box, so you can enjoy 50+ ad-free and on-demand movies every month, 30+ included streamed TV channels, the Fetch Movies channel, and 30+ family games.
If you are charged the levy on or after 1 November 2026, you still have 30 days from the charge date to upgrade your device or activate an eligible subscription (Movie Box, Fetch Access, Multiroom, or a Content Pack). If you do so within this 30-day period, we will credit your account for the remaining months of the 12-month levy.
Please note: Account credits are not available after this 30-day period ends or while your account is suspended.
To avoid the levy entirely, please upgrade your device, activate an eligible subscription, or cancel your Fetch service on or before 31 October 2026.
Your exemption from the Extended Service Levy is tied to having an active, eligible subscription, such as Movie Box, Fetch Access, or a Content Pack over the period from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027. If you cancel your subscription at any point during this period (and do not take up a different subscription) but continue to use your Gen 3 device, indicating that you wish to continue to use your Gen 3 device ‘as-is’, you will be notified and the levy will be applied to your account during the next billing cycle.
If you choose not to upgrade or add a subscription, the $29.99 Extended Service Levy will be charged to your payment method on 1 November 2026.
To keep your Fetch service running smoothly:
- Check your payment details: Please update your credit card or payment info in your account dashboard before 31 October 2026 to ensure the transaction goes through. Refer to our step-by-step guide on how to update your payment details here.
- If payment fails: Your Fetch service will be suspended immediately. If you use a Mighty Gen 3, you will lose access to making or viewing recordings while your account is suspended.
- If payment fails 4 times: Your account will be suspended, and your Gen 3 device will be permanently deactivated and cannot be used again by anyone. If you use a Mighty Gen 3, you will permanently lose all recordings and they will not be recoverable once your account is suspended.
If you do not wish to pay the levy or continue using your Fetch service, you can cancel your service on or before 31 October 2026.
Yes. If you’re a pensioner, hold an eligible concession card, or are experiencing financial difficulty, please contact our Customer Support team here. We’ll review your circumstances confidentially and discuss available support options.
